Surfing

Bundoran offers a wide range of reef and beach breaks for all levels of surfers. Tullan strand provides an excellent break for beginners. For experienced surfers there are numerous reefs in the area that work on different stages of the tide. The surrounding area is great for exploration, ideally with a car. Most breaks including The Peak, Pampa, 3 D are in the immediate area of Bundoran and are accessible by foot or bicycle.

Bundoran golf course overlooks the Atlantic. You cannot help but be impressed by the setting of this course on Ireland’s western coast. This 5,599 metre par-69 course winds along the coastline and returns inland to give a mix of holes that provides a test to golfers of all abilities. Designed by the great Harry Varden and an early training ground for the illustrious Christy O’ Connor, Bundoran has a challenging par 70 of 6328 yards.

Dizzy’s Den is the North West’s newest Indoor Play Centre. Dizzy Dens provides a safe and secure environment for children to come and play.

Dizzy’s Den currently has a large climbing frame where children from as young as four can let their imagination take hold from being a pirate finding buried treasure to being the monkey in a jungle. To top it off, there is a huge slide to bring you all the way back down, where the adventure starts all over again

Hillwalking

There is a leisurely cliff walk beside the Donegal Bay Holiday Homes other local scenic walks include “Rougey”, a delightful walk, which follows a route along the headland from Bundoran Bridge to Tullan Strand. Along the walk it passes the “Fairy Bridges” and the “Wishing Chair”.

For the more adventurous walker there are numerous different grades of walks available.  We will happily supply all maps and Leo our guide is on hand to answer any questions you may have.

Mullaghmore, Co Sligo

Mullaghmore, situated 8km from Bundoran is a picturesque fishing village, overlooking the Harbour, Mountains, Beach and Atlantic Ocean.

This spectular location offers a wide variety of activities for the adventurous, serenity for the peaceful and fun for the families.

Rowsnowlagh, Co Donegal

About 15 minutes drive from Donegal Bay Holiday Homes, Bundoran

Rossnowlagh beach is a very popular beach attracting thousands of visitors in the summer time. It is located about 10km north of Bundoran. The beach is famous for its rolling waves that bring surfers flocking from both near and far. Also nice for a family drive.

Glencar waterfalls, Co Leitrim

About 30 minutes drive from Donegal Bay Holiday Homes, Bundoran

Situated just outside Manorhamilton is the beautiful Glencar Waterfall. W.B. Yeats made this enchanting waterfall famous in his poem, “The Stolen Child”. It is by no means a large waterfall, but enchanting nonetheless and is beside Glencar Lake.

A rather modest stream forms an impressive cascade, which can be viewed from a delightful wooded walk where toilets and picnic facilities are provided. There is access to the waterfall for disabled persons.

Lisadell House, Co Sligo

About 20 minutes drive from Donegal Bay Holiday Homes, Bundoran

W. B. Yeats:  ”An exceedingly impressive house .. with a great sitting room as high as a church and all things in good taste. Outside it is grey, square and bare yet set amid delightful grounds”.

Famous for its association with W.B. Yeats and Maude Gonne.  A visit to Lissadell House is a must for history fans or an enjoyable day for the family.  Open during the summer.  Beautiful walks through the gardens and coast aswell as a lovely coffee shop selling delights from their garden.

Benbulben, Co Sligo

About 20 minutes drive from Donegal Bay Holiday Homes, Bundoran

Benbulben is Irelands most distinctive mountain and known in some parts as Ireland’s version of Table Mountain. It is the result from the different responses to erosion of the limestone and shale of which the mountain is formed. A hard and resistant limestone forms the upper cliffs and precipices. Many legends and tales have been woven round the almost magical mountain that is Benbulben. Mysterious shady valleys dominate the landscape in this upland alpine-like region. You can easily see how this brooding mountain, which rises so steeply from the ground below, could conjure up tales of enchanted maidens, warriors and spells.

Sligo town, Co Sligo

This lively town is built on the Garavogue and is one of the most important in the northwest of Ireland. It is a hive of activity. For the sport-minded there is fishing in many of the lakes and rivers in the area, golf, boats for hire and summer walking tours in the town. ‘Culture vultures’ may wish to visit the theatre or the historical monuments in this beautiful town. While the shopping mad may wish to visit some of its many retail outlets.

Belleek, Co Fermanagh

Belleek is a thriving market town with a variety of pubs, shops, restaurants and a hotel. It is most famous for the fine parian china produced there at the Belleek Pottery, the oldest pottery in Ireland. The china is valued by collectors from all over the world. It is also a noted location for angling and other recreational activities and is now linked to the River Shannon by canal

Enniskillen, Co Fermanagh

About 45 minutes drive from Donegal Bay Holiday Homes, Bundoran.

Enniskillen is the County Town of Fermanagh, located almost exactly in the Centre of the County on the natural island which separates the Upper and Lower sections of Lough Erne.  The town is the retail centre for County Fermanagh with many delights waiting to be bought

Slieve league, Co Donegal

About 1 hours drive from Donegal Bay Holiday Homes, Bundoran.

The cliffs of Slieve League in Donegal are the highest sea cliffs in Europe. A nearly sheer drop of roughly 2,000 feet separates the Atlantic Ocean from the highest point of the cliffs.  Absolutely breath taking and a must see on a clear day.

Donegal Town is charming and picturesque, with a small harbour where the Eske River enters Donegal Bay and a pleasant town centre, known as the Diamond. The Diamond is a spacious, open pedestrian area surrounded by hotels, shops, pubs, restaurants and coffee shops

Glenveagh National Park, Co Donegal

About 1 hour drive from Donegal Bay Holiday Homes, Bundoran

Glenveagh National Park lies in the heart of the Derryveagh Mountains in the north-west of Co. Donegal. It is a remote and hauntingly beautiful wilderness of rugged mountains and pristine lakes. Glenveagh is the haunt of many rare and interesting plants and animals and is famous for it’s fine herd of red deer. The Park contains the peaks of the two highest mountains in Co. Donegal, Errigal (752m) and Slieve Snaght (683m)

Eagle Sanctuary, Co Sligo

Situated amid the beautiful landscape of Northwest Ireland is Eagles Flying, home to the largest sanctuary for birds of prey and owls in the country. A fantastic and memorable experience of majestic raptors soaring over one of the most lovely locations to be found.

Queen Meaves Grave, Co Sligo

Queen Maeve’s grave is at the top of Knocknarea Mountain, which overlooks Sligo Bay and the whole of County Sligo. Knocknarea has many megalithic sites.  A must for some of the most breath taking views of County Sligo
